Sheelin Fisher Shuts Out ESU to Help Huskies to Split

Game One

Game Two

BLOOMSBURG-- Sheelin Fisher (Coplay/Allentown Central Catholic) tossed a five-hit shutout to lead the Bloomsburg University softball team to an 8-0 win and a split of its doubleheader with East Stroudsburg on Wednesday. The Warriors won the opener, 2-1, in eight innings.

Fisher was dominant in winning game two as she fanned 11, walked just one and did not allow a runner to reach third base. Offensively, Tara Reed (Williamsport/Williamsport) went 2-4 and drover in three runs, while Lacy Mauro (Jersey Shore/Jersey Shore) was 1-3 with two runs batted in. Bloomsburg scored five times in the third to take control of the game with Reed and Mauro both driving in two runs in the inning.

In the opener, the Huskies lost 2-1 and managed just three hits in the game. Michelle Meyers won the game for the Warriors with a solo homer in the bottom of the eighth. The loss spoiled a strong outing by Ashley Lynn (Riverside/Danville) who struck out 13 and did not walk a batter.

Bloomsburg's only run came in the second when Mandy Koch (Dauphin/Central Dauphin) walked, moved to second on a sacrifice and later scored on Lynn's double.

The Huskies, now 34-7, 9-5 in the PSAC East, play at Kutztown on Friday at 2:30 p.m.
